The Sky Sergio '09 is a beautifully constructed hand-made custom competition ARF
model utilizing aileron and flaps for full trailing edge control. We have found
the Sky Sergio to be an excellent light lift aircraft with the long tail moment
and large tail surfaces which enhance low speed handling.
The wing
is covered
with
Oracover Lite, and the '09 has a new AG (Drela) foil. This allows better handling in thermals, and wind! It also has carbon spar for better weight/strength ratio.
The fuselage is kevlar with carbon fiber reinforcement
and is gel-coated white, same fuse as the Pulsar. The tail boom is made of unpainted nature carbon fiber.
The hand-built
tail is made from contest balsa, and then covered with Oracover Lite. The
elevators and ailerons are covered and pre-hinged.
This is a fully built sailplane needing only the attachment of the tail to
the fuselage and radio installation. The Sky Sergio has been built to
minimize weight and maximize strength, similar to the Pulsar, but does not
have the carbon/Kevlar D-box construction.
In this model, the careful use of contest grade
balsa
wood structure in the wing ensures a strong light structure that will
hold its shape for a long time. This synergy of low weight and strong structure
is very
unusual in a production sailplane and can only be achieved with careful
attention to design and construction. SoaringUSA is proud to have planes
of such high quality in our offerings, and is confident that you will be very
pleased with this
model. |
