This is the semi-scale version of the Czech aerobatic glider
LF - 107 LUŇAK. The LUŇAK was built in the early 50's, in the Czech Rep.
It was used as a trainer for future jet pilots or in local clubs for sailing and
aerobatics. It had very impressive flying characteristics with a win at the
World Championship. Only 5 units are still inventoried around the world from
over 200 built. The model is one of THE MOST AEROBATIC
scale gliders available, capable of full on, hardcore aerobatics. The LUŇAK is
suitable for slope flying, aerotow or ROG winching.
This is a quality model, designed to look great, and fly even
better. It was awarded "The Model of the Year 2002" at Model Hobby Fair in
Prague. That is quite an accomplishment with the competition.
Flying the Lunak is like no other... it responds instantly,
has a fast roll rate, and hold it's energy amazingly well. It is deceptively
fast, but still a sweetheart to land. She has loads of flaps (full span) so you
can camber for lift and speed. Check out this awesome video of the
LUNAK at Kiona Butte in WA. The winds were
only 10-15! BUT HOLD ON!
Aerotow is a dream too. It is very mild mannered on tow, but
puts on one heck of a show on the way down. It's also been known to catch a few
thermals.
