F3F Strong or Jedi F3B Variants

From the Czech manufacturer Baudis, their latest F3F/F3B model is the Jedi! ...And the Force is definitely strong with this one! With pedigrees based on many contest wins in Europe and improvements based on years of experimentation (no to mention molds discarded!) this Jedi doesn’t just “try,” he DOES.

Compared to his “father,” Fosa Lift, Jedi has the same wing root of 220mm (8.7in) but has had its wing tips redesigned for better agility and turning performance. The aim was to create a model which is easier to control and has better directional stability.

For Baudis Models, it was long journey to the final version. Whole seasons they tested many Jedi prototypes – various fuse lengths, wingspans, V-tail angles, elevator sizes, etc. Nearly each competition in a single season Team Baudis flew another modification of Jedi. The new airfoil is designed more for outright speed performance. However, thanks to Jedi’s overall airframe design, and its new-found stability, Jedi has achieved the same result during launch as Fosa Lift, which is highly acclaimed for the performance during launch and duration.

Competition results frequently show the Jedi pilots are the fastest ones, like Reinhard Liese in Nardt 2014 or Thomas Dylla in Kircheim 2014. Andreas Böhlen also flew a Jedi in the 2014 season, winning at Nardt, and after that competition, he was the leader of the FAI World Cup F3B in 2014.

Jedi’s construction is fully composite, with carbon used in all stressed parts. The wing spar uses high modular carbon with very low ductility and kevlar honeycomb, which results in light and very stiff construction. Also, the fuselage is almost 100% carbon composite with a 2.4 GHz friendly nose and nose cone.
