4.8-Meter Scale Sailplane
The all-molded Ventus 2cx is a large (4.8m) scale sailplane suitable for aerobatics, slope soaring, and flat-land thermal soaring where its winglets reduce induced drag, thus improving overall L/D. State-of-the-art production techniques and thin airfoil sections allow for very high performance flying!
The fuselage of the Ventus 2cx is made of molded fiberglass and includes a cockpit (with details) and a molded seat. The canopy opens to the side just like the full-size Ventus 2cx.
The wing is a molded composite structure consisting of fiberglass, carbon fiber and Herex sandwich materials. The wing spar structure is made of carbon roving and fiberglass sandwich web filled with balsa wood.
For optimum efficiency and stability when working light lift, and for maximum stall-resistance, the trailing edge is trimmable in three sections from root to tip. These split flaps change the camber of the airfoil three times, providing a veritable “washout” for the wingtips.
The attachment of the wing to the fuselage is managed by extending the wing spar through the fuselage and securing both via locking pin, just the way it is in the real sailplane.
Ventus 2cx comes equipped with Schempp-Hirth air brakes, air tow release mechanism and retractable landing gear. The model has the original true-to-scale graphics applied.
The scale model Ventus 2cx can be fitted with an Elicker’s 14 or 16 inch retractable pylon. With basic equipment, the Ventus 2cx requires ten (10) servos: for elevator, rudder, ailerons, flaps, air brakes, retractable landing gear and airtow release mechanism. If modified as an M version, the model requires an additional servo for the retractable pylon.
