Pilatus B4 3-Meter, 1:5 Scale Sailplane

The Pilatus B4 was originally produced by the Pilatus factory, and was manufactured from 1972 to 1978 as an all metal, fully aerobatic glider. Approx 320 of these were produced, of which approx 30 are still in use in the U.S.!

As is typical for all of the SoaringUSA models, the construction is superb, and the fit and finish are among the top available today. (I think the patriotic color scheme makes this plane a winner no matter what!) The full scale version of the B4 is very aerobatic, and you should expect nothing less from this 1:5 scale version! The RG14 airfoil is a pleasure to fly with it's wide speed range, and the tapered leading and trailing edges ensure no surprises at lower speeds.

The B4 comes complete with the spoilers installed, definitely a nice feature on a molded ship. Check the pictures, you can't even see the spoiler when they are retracted.

If you haven't explored aerobatic flying, you are missing out on a great skill building experience. Like the 3D planes, aerobatics will teach you many things about orientation, downwind translations, pre / post stall handling techniques, and a new view on control orientation. All of which are skills that will apply to your slope activities, particularly your landings. Give us a call or e-mail us with any ordering or technical questions, we'll be happy to help you make the right glider and equipment choices.
